Manchester United to be boosted by signing of Martin Baturina

The 21-year-old is one of the best young midfielders in Croatian football and is expected to get a bigger challenge from Zagreb at the end of the season.

Real Madrid have been keeping tabs on Modric following his recommendation, but the youngster appears to have turned down the chance to join the European champions.

The Madrid giants recently offered the talented playmaker a five-year contract, according to Patrick Berger, who revealed they plan to loan him out to Spain for two seasons.

However, this was unacceptable for the highly rated ace. Baturina would prefer to join a top European club where he could become a key member from next summer.

The news comes as a huge boost for several clubs including Manchester United, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Baturina is reportedly leaning towards a move to the Bundesliga next season.

Zagreb are prepared to consider letting him leave for a fee of £21m.

big boost

Manchester United made a massive signing announcement last summer. Lenny Yoro was once touted to join Real Madrid, but they eventually convinced him to move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils offer the French prodigy a handsome salary compared to Real Madrid. They also guaranteed him a regular starting spot from the start, something Real Madrid did not guarantee.

United now have the chance to repeat the feat with Baturina. The Croatian is an attacking midfielder who has amassed two goals and seven assists in 17 games this season.

He contributed 2 goals in the Champions League and his performance was praised.

Zagreb suffered a 9-2 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich earlier this season, but Manuel Neuer singled out Baturina for praise for his performance. The legendary goalkeeper calls himself a “powerful player”.

New United manager Ruben Amorim has a proven track record of working with young talent and his arrival could boost United’s chances of signing Baturina ahead of other European rivals.
